CSTEP Eligibility and Applying

CSTEP Eligibility:

  • Permanent residents of New York State.
  • Syracuse University students in an undergraduate major or graduate program that leads to a licensed profession or career, such as the  STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math), medicine/health, law, mathematics/science education, or accounting.
  • Current cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75, or graduate/law GPA of 3.2
  • Racial, ethnic, or income eligibility as set by New York State

Once admitted, a CSTEP scholar commits to:

  • Meet with a CSTEP counselor at least once a month each semester.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and at least three CSTEP-sponsored workshops, events, or activities every semester.
  • Participate in program advocacy activities.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 undergraduate or 3.2 graduate/law.
  • Participate in at least one internship or research experience prior to graduation.
