My Internship Experience
The following is a description of my summer experience in 2005. I interned at Kraft Foods Inc. in
Campbell, New York where I served as a manufacturing engineering intern in the engineering department. Some of my assignments included measuring flow rates of milk in pipes, creating AutoCAD drawings of room dimensions, and supervising subcontractors. I choose to work with Kraft Foods because I believed they would provide a great learning opportunity inside and out of my major. Working with Kraft allowed me to understand how different divisions of a business operate with one another daily and how engineering is integrated into the business. It showed me how each department is dependent on the next in order for the business to run successfully. I got a chance to see how engineering plays a crucial part in the operation and manufacturing of goods. By the end of the internship I hoped to develop stronger technical and computational skills such as AutoCAD and Excel. I also expected to gain better teamwork abilities. My expectations were met. Additionally, my experiences at Kraft have helped me to perform better with class assignment. The summer had been full of lessons that I currently learn in great detail today in school. It also exposed me to some career options that I may want to further look into upon graduation, such as engineering management and manufacturing engineering.
