Orientation Phase

The Orientation Phase typically occurs in February and focuses on preparing students for the research/internship experience. Mandatory meetings with the Assistant Director assist students to identify goals appropriate for their unique interdisciplinary and post-graduate plans, and receive required readings. A rigorous weeklong training during Spring Break, including a 3-day tour of graduate and professional schools, compliments this Orientation Phase. Between orientation and summer session one, ARISE scholars will complete internship/research contracts – including locating a Faculty Mentor or Site Supervisor with the assistance of the Assistant Director.  All the internship and/or research projects are self-determined.
